Service Opportunity: Packing Food for Seniors

*Event Full* St. Mary Christian Service is looking for 15 volunteers to help pack food boxes at Focus Hope from 9am - 12pm, Thursday August 3, 2023. Children ages 13 and older, if accompanied by a parent or a guardian, are also welcome. Car pools leaving from St. Mary parking lot will be available at 8am on August 3. Focus Hope food packing is done at 1400 Oakman Blvd, Detroit MI 48238. Fenced parking is available across the street.

Focus Hope provides food to more than 40,000 limited-income seniors in and around Detroit. Each month, every one of those seniors receive a box of non-perishable food. Focus Hope relies on volunteers like us to pack the majority of this food. Volunteers work in groups of about 30 individuals that cut stock and place canned goods in Focus Hope boxes that roll by. Volunteers might be asked to unwrap, un box food from pallets, collapse boxes for recycling, etc. Moderate levels of physical activity, bending and lifting is required.
