Audivi Detroit's Professional Vocal Ensemble presents Handel's Messiah

Audivi presents the universally popular English oratorio, Messiah, here with an orchestra of Baroque specialist instrumentalists. This performance features historically accurate orchestration, creating a sound that is more intimate and clear than many popular adaptations; this authentic approach emphasizes a balance of dynamics and texture derived from Handel's original intent.

The 53-movement work is divided into three parts, with Part I focusing on prophecies of the Messiah and his birth (Nativity), Part II covering the passion, death, resurrection, and ascension, and Part III emphasizing the promise of resurrection and everlasting life. Complex vocal lines, dramatic expression, and the compositional technique of "word painting" bring this quintessential Baroque oratorio to life.
