Baptized Catholic children in grades 1 through 8, who need to be prepared to complete their initiation process in the Catholic Church, must participate in a catechetical program (religious formation sessions) with their peers at St. Mary. Sessions begin mid-September.
The parents will take part in this process since they have the primary influence on the preparation process of their children and since this is their primary responsibility.
The parents shall obtain a recent copy of the child’s baptismal certificate from their church of baptism and give it to the Faith Formation Director. The parents must register their child for the catechetical program.

Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit - his actions, his gifts, and his bidding - in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community. The latter bears special responsibility for the preparation of confirmandi's.
It is an expectation that candidates for confirmationworship with the community regularly and participate at Mass on the weekend
